Grammy or Die is the second major mixtape release from up and coming DC artist Loui J. I say artist because you will notice poetry, rapping, and singing from him on this tape. Grammy or Die is about the ascension Loui J. and his alter ego “King Loui The God Flow”. This project features amazing story telling about the life from an everyday 18 year old but also tales from a self proclaimed king and rising star. From the intro track entitled “Get It” to, “City Is Mine Interlude 2012”, and the last track “Birth Control” Loui brings the feeling of just being a regular kid with talent. He explains where he came from musically, where he grew up, all the way back up to his birth. In other songs such as his remake of “Crew Love”, to “GOD Flow” (the leading single), and “RedZone” you sense his narcissistic side and that he feels he is king in his own right. Last but not least he is a singer as well and gives listeners a taste of his savvy R&B side. With songs like “Drowning” he persuades the mind of a girl that she shouldn’t worry about her man and his infidelities because he can be there for her. He also shows his deeper side in songs like “Forever In A Lifetime” and his song that ever so vividly describes the life of a stripper in “Shots (Pains and Needles). Overall the tape is very polished and thorough. Be on the lookout for this kid because as he insist the “GOD Flow” is on the rise.
