My name is Imani Henderson. I'm 21 years old and I am a senior at Bowie State University studying History and Government. I am ambitious, exuberant, and determined to fulfill God's calling for my life. With hard work and a dream I believe that anything is possible. I push boundaries I'm very persistent, and I don't take no for an answer.
My dream is to become the best Imani I can possibly be. It’s very rare that you come across someone that actually lives life it seems like people merely exist. Every day I strive to become a better me, I push myself to levels I never knew I could reach. My idea of success is to live comfortably doing what I love.
I was born in Washington DC, raised in Freeport Bahamas and Maryland. Every day that I wake up I'm grateful because I know that life isn't promised. Throughout life I've made great choices and I have also made not so great ones. As a child I didn't fit in much because I moved around a lot. At a young age I turned to writing and I learned to express myself through music. I wrote about everything when I was sad, when I was happy, and even if I felt confused. Music became my creative outlet.
My goal is to make a positive impact on this generation and generations to come. When I’m old and grey I want to look back over my life and say “Wow! I actually did everything that I wanted and more”. I want to say that I believed and achieved more then I could ever imagine. Over all I accept the person that I was and I'm in love with the person that I've become. Every lesson is a lesson learned good or bad and I'm not afraid of mistakes I embrace them.
I'm fortunate to be currently employed as a student intern at the department of Veterans affairs. I have also participated in other intern opportunities like working for Ocean City Police Department. After I graduate I plan to go wherever my heart takes me I want to relocate to L.A, N.Y, or ATL. Music is a huge aspect in my life and will be incorporated in my future
Some interesting facts: I was not allowed to watch music videos or listen to "secular music" until I was in 4th grade. I embrace my dorkiness! I’m not afraid to snort, LOL! I watched the “moon walker" over 100 times. For about 3 years I’ve been on my way to becoming a vegetarian, one four legged animal at a time, but for now I don't eat beef or pork. I love to make spontaneous trips and try new things. I'm the best swimmer you know and I'm always up for a challenge.
A poem that stuck by me "Our deepest fear is not that we our inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure...."
